Things we're thinking about this week.
Doesn't matter what you're doing, it's easy to get stuck in the rabbit hole and bogged down doing things that aren't aligned with your overall mission (for example becoming a professional email responder). Usually, it's when you discover you don't have enough time in the day that you start realising that you're so far off the path that you're either burnt out or have a moment of clarity - time to prioritize properly.
What you'll often find is that you're doing things that you're really not interested in doing (and this can be because there might be revenue involved OR it was initially semi-related to your real interests). Whatever the case, being clear of your priorities really puts you in place for future success (and in some cases appearing 'luckier').
While it's important to 'just get started', it's important to also understand WHY you're doing something and constantly reminding yourself to stay on the right path (easier said than done). This can be said for anything, and in most cases here it's about marketing. Having a clear direction of what you're doing and why you're doing it allows you to be focused on addressing your issues (or customer's issues) and getting the results you're looking for (for example a brand's Instagram page that is scattered without themes or over-arching ideas versus one that is lasered focus on the brand's beliefs, values or mission).
If you do it right from the beginning, you won't be wasting time wondering at a later date what needs to change to make the impact you're looking for.
