STARTUPS & BUSINESS PODCASTS
A few of my favourite podcasts covering everything from toying with new ideas that lead to multimillion dollar businesses (isn't that the dream) to scaling businesses with strategic and smart decision making (we all think we can do it, but can we really?)
THE TIM FERRISS SHOW
The number 1 podcast on iTunes for a reason. The guests that Tim is able to get on his podcast is absolutely incredible. He dives deep into 'why', very much less so about actual tactics but drive and character. The podcast has spun off two different books as well. Here are a few recommended episodes to get started:
A relatively new podcast, but extremely well produced. Reid Hoffman dives into insight on how the best entrepreneurs perform. Build fast and break things personified. Here are a few recommended episodes to get started:
- Handcrafted - In order to scale you have to do things that don't scale
- Lead, lead again - To lead a fast changing organisation, you have to be as skilled at breaking plans as you are at making them
- Escape the competition - Your goal isn't to beat the competition - it's to escape the competition altogether.
Diving into the stories of some of the world's best known companies. This is great as it paints a narrative journey of innovators and entrepreneurs. The stories are very similar, BUT what's great is that it covers both startups as well as companies that have been around for decades. A good light listen. 'THINK DIFFERENT' PODCASTS
This is a terrible name, but not sure how best to name this section. These podcasts make you question everything. It's not just about seeming smarter, it's about actually doing something about it (still, not a very good description). Anyhow, they're an enjoyable listen.
"Discover the hidden side of everything." If this is what economics is about, I should have considered it as a real option (unfortunately didn't have the option of studying it in high school). Fantastic listen, and takes into account all angles/opinions (not biased)! Covers all sorts of interesting topics, look forward to this every week. Here are a few to get started on:
A relatively new podcast (I'm worried this won't continue!), Malcolm Gladwell dives into topics that are often overlooked. Makes you question things from the past and whether the full story of anything is ever told (seems like it's not). A few of my favourite episodes:
